Gods Unchained launches rotating game mode “Formats”
Gods Unchained, the popular web3 trading card game by Immutable Games, is introducing a new rotating game mode feature called “Formats”, starting August 19. These Formats offer players fresh ways to engage with their card collections by introducing unique rules and varying levels of competitive intensity, encouraging strategic deck builds using both old and new cards. Players also have the chance to earn rewards, with additional bonuses for participating in these new modes.
Permanent Formats including Ranked and Sealed will remain unchanged, though Sealed will see new cards added for a refreshed competitive experience. This expansion aims to deepen player engagement by allowing for more creativity in deck building and by showcasing the rich lore and artwork within the game. LCS to host Team USA vs Team Canada showmatch
The LCS has announced a special showmatch between Team USA and Team Canada, set to take place on August 9, 2024. In the spirit of the ongoing Olympics, and the upcoming esports Olympics, this friendly competition will feature a mix of young talent and experienced players, with Team USA comprising Dhokla, Blaber, APA, Yeon, and Busio, while Team Canada includes Licorice, Tomio, Jojopyun, Massu, and Vulcan.
Fans are already choosing sides, with some backing the Blaber-Dhokla duo on Team USA, while others highlight the strength of Licorice and Vulcan on Team Canada. The event is scheduled to be streamed live on the LCS Twitch channel. This showmatch comes at a time when the LCS Summer 2024 group stage is underway, with Team Liquid leading the standings, and aims to boost interest in the league.
Fnatic unveils new monthly esports subscription service
Fnatic, a prominent European esports organization, has launched a new subscription service called Fnatic Plus, offering fans a range of exclusive perks for 5 Euros a month. Subscribers gain access to benefits like monthly prize draws, a 15% discount on the Fnatic shop, exclusive merchandise, early access to new product launches, and unique customization options within Fnatic’s mobile app. The service was announced on August 1st via a video featuring Fnatic team members.
This new subscription builds on a previous membership program Fnatic launched with Crypto.com in 2022, which was based on blockchain technology. While many perks from the old program have been integrated into Fnatic Plus, certain exclusive benefits, such as custom jerseys for Pioneer key holders, remain.
